Congratulations to Lisa Medico, RN, the January Tidewell Difference Award winner. Her nomination, made by a colleague, explains how Lisa made a difference as a Nurse Navigator at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Lisa worked with the SMH information technology department to develop an email notification system that decreased the time it took for physician referrals to reach the Tidewell admission team.

“Lisa recognized the situation,” the nomination read, “and took action to create a solution. This was not an easy task – after all, we are talking about changing systems within an organization that have been in place for many years! Lisa did not give up. She set aside time each week to brainstorm ideas, get input from others, and she continued to pursue a solution to eliminate this major barrier to ‘timely referral notifications.’

“This new electronic notification of SMH referrals improves customer satisfaction for our patients at SMH as our team can be more responsive with time-sensitive referrals.”

Lisa was recognized by CEO Gerry Radford at Sarasota Memorial Hospital with a certificate, a special Tidewell Difference pin, a $50 gift card and one day of personal leave.

Nominations for the Tidewell Difference Award are accepted at any time and can be made using the form posted on Happenings. All non-supervisory colleagues – full-time, part-time or PRN – are eligible. In order to win, nominees must be in good standing and have been employed with Tidewell for at least six months. Nominations should be based on specific action(s) taken by a colleague that demonstrates one or more Tidewell Core Values.
