Meet the Philanthropy Staff
Denise joined Tidewell in January 2010. She is responsible for providing strategic leadership and management for Tidewell’s philanthropy and marketing/communications programs. Denise has more than 18 years of philanthropy, marketing and public relations experience. Prior to joining Tidewell, she served St. John’s Hospital and St. John’s Children’s Hospital in Springfield, Ill. as Chief Development Officer for the Friends of St. John’s Hospital Foundation. Denise holds a B.A. in Public Relations from Western Kentucky University and an M.A. in Communication from University of Illinois, Springfield. She has received additional intensive training in major gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving and fund raising management through the Madison Institute, a program of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and the University of Wisconsin. Denise and her husband have three children.
Aida joined Tidewell in January 2009. She is responsible for developing and directing strategy and plans to build and maintain a comprehensive philanthropy program that encompasses innovative fundraising approaches that support the mission of Tidewell. Prior to coming to Tidewell, she was the Development Director of the Anna Maria Island Community Center. Her previous experience is in book publishing, journalism and managing the Newspaper in Education Program’s special events and grant writing endeavors. In addition, she was the Director of Operations for an animal welfare organization. She holds leadership roles in the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the Giving Matters Council. Originally from Germany, Aida came to the United States in 1997 and has lived in Florida since 2004. She has a university degree in American Studies from the Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich and advanced studies in Market Psychology and Civic Law.
Lorraine Constantino joined Tidewell in November 2016. In addition to providing administrative support to the Philanthropy Department staff, she is responsible for managing Tidewell’s Humanitarian and Wishes Funds, Third Party Events and the Vehicle Donation Program. Prior to joining Tidewell, Lorraine worked for a privately held chemical company for nearly 22 years as a National Sales Coordinator and Contracts Administrator. Several years after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, N.Y., she and her husband relocated to Venice, Fla., where they have lived with their two children for 20 years.
Jane joined Tidewell in May 2011. She is responsible for managing the organization’s constituent database and performs regular data analysis, using those statistics to assist in evaluating current program performance and make recommendations for improvement. Jane has more than 19 years of experience in the hospitality, technology and benefits administration industries. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management from University of Missouri-Columbia. Jane lives with her husband, Lou, and their cat Oliver, on six peaceful acres in eastern Sarasota County.
Nafi Sallah joined Tidewell in April 2016. She is responsible for managing the multiple facets of the campaign to build a new hospice house in Lakewood Ranch. Nafi, a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), brings to the organization a diverse business background including human resources, finance and accounting. Prior to joining Tidewell, she worked for Sarasota County government and served the Poynter Institute and its Foundation for six years. Nafi was raised in Gambia, a small country on the west coast of Africa. She came to the United States in pursuit of higher education and moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1997. Nafi graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management.
Joan joined Tidewell in October 2016. She is responsible for working with donors and friends of Tidewell to help them accomplish their charitable giving goals. She considers fundraising as “matchmaking.” Joan moved to Sarasota in 2002 to serve as the Director of Major Gifts at Ringling College of Art and Design. Most recently she served as Director of Major Gifts for All Faiths Food Bank. She is a former board member of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and a founding member of the Giving Matters Council. Prior to moving to Sarasota, Joan held several executive positions in New York, including Vice President of Leadership Gifts at the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, and Vice President for Development at the Masorti Foundation. A graduate of Syracuse University with degrees in Journalism and Political Science, she also holds a master’s degree in Advertising from Northwestern University. Joan and her husband, Marden, were among the first couples to be introduced by a computer dating service. They are parents of a son and a daughter and have two granddaughters.
Larry joined Tidewell in June 2014. He is responsible for assisting in database development, report generation and the receipt and acknowledgement of charitable contributions. He is also responsible for data imports and data entry. Other responsibilities include the Tidewell Angel employee recognition program and coordinating donor appreciation calls made by Tidewell volunteers. Larry has more than 25 years of experience developing income tax preparation software with Arthur Andersen & Co. and Jackson Hewitt. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of South Florida and has completed additional training in accounting and taxation.
Jennifer joined Tidewell in August 2015. She is responsible for daily data entry and processing of all monetary contributions received, generating donor and acknowledgement letters, maintaining database activities by analyzing and auditing data, and provides general administrative support to the department. Jennifer holds an A.A. in Fine Arts/Studio Arts from the Baum School of Art and a B.A. in Communications from Cedar Crest College. She worked at Disney’s Animal Kingdom from 2000-2001 on the Walt Disney World College Program, spent 2 months living abroad in Kalkan, Turkey, and moved to Florida in 2012 from Pennsylvania on the AmeriCorps VISTA (volunteers in service to America) program.
